Volunteering & Environmental Awareness

Biologist, Master’s degree in Conservation Biology, teacher at the Secundary School of Odemira. She has has been living in the municipality Odemira since 1987. Her main interests are the knowledge, dissemination and preservation of the natural values of southwest Portugal. She has participated in numerous environmental studies, ecological monitoring works and natural values mapping. She collaborates, among other projects, in the Red List of the Flora of Portugal and in the Flora-on portal (Portuguese Society of Botany). She is a co-author of several science publications. Born and raised in Lisbon, with her heart on the Alentejo coast. She runs away from the city whenever she can, or whenever she needs to. Rita is working with Rota Vicentina on communication and production of Semana ID event. After 25 years of journalism, she decided to change direction.
