Update: 03/31/2026
A practical internship supporting trail maintenance, linked to nature, sustainability and life in a rural context.
For years, starting a career followed a predictable path: office, computer, repetitive tasks, and little connection to the real world.
But that model is changing. Today, more and more young people are looking for an internship in nature, one that offers impact, practical learning, and an experience that goes beyond the CV.
That’s exactly what this internship opportunity at the Rota Vicentina Association aims to offer.
Under the +Talento programme (IEFP), this role focuses on trail maintenance, but in practice, it’s much more than that. Here, you will:
👉 Contribute to an association project linked to nature-based tourism
👉 Support environmental conservation efforts
👉 Work closely with local communities
🥾 About this internship:
• +Talent Programme (IEFP)
• Intended for unemployed young people registered with the IEFP
• Level 6 qualifications (areas of Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation)*
• Age up to 35 years
• Workplace: Odemira
* Does not apply to curricular internships or areas that require an internship to practice the profession.
🌱 What this internship offers:
• Duration: 6 months
• Monthly allowance: €1,181.69 (Level 6)
• Meal allowance or meals provided
• Transportation costs (when applicable)
🧭 Who this is for:
This internship isn’t for everyone… and that’s part of its strength. It’s for those who:
• Enjoy rural environments and small community living
• Are interested in nature, sustainability, and responsible tourism
• Value hands-on, practical experiences
• Enjoy outdoor activities (hiking, cycling)
• Are autonomous and responsible
• Are available for occasional weekend activities
• Hold a driving licence
Skills in photography, video, writing, or social media are a plus!
🎒 What you take with you:
After 6 months, what matters most may not just be what you add to your CV, but what you take with you.
You’ll be part of a small, supportive, and approachable team, where there’s space to learn, ask questions, and grow day by day.
If you’re looking for a paid internship in the Southwest of Portugal that challenges you, takes you out of your routine, and gets your hands in the ground, this could be the right opportunity.
It’s not just an internship. It’s a different starting point.
