New walking and cycling season

3 minutos de leitura

Welcome to Rota Vicentina!

It’s time to hike. It’s time to cycle. It’s time to explore Southwest of Portugal. Dust off your boots and trekking poles, oil your bike chains and get ready to hit the Rota Vicentina’s trails.

In September, we officially open Rota Vicentina’s trails with a new season of walking and cycling!

Changes on the Historical Way

The sections of the Historical Way (GR11/E9) that connect Santiago do Cacém to Vale Seco and Vale Seco to Cercal do Alentejo have been modified. The previous route overlapped with the installation area of high-voltage power lines, necessitating a change to ensure a better experience for hikers. All information on Rota Vicentina website, Outdoor Active mobile app, the Topographic Map and the Guide Book has been updated. Find more details about this change in this article:

Reconstruction of the Seixe stream bridge

In August 2023, several trails of Rota Vicentina in the areas of S. Teotónio, Odeceixe and Bordeira were affected by wildfires that swept through Southwest Portugal. With the reconstruction of the bridge over the Seixe stream, all necessary maintenance to restore the original trails has been completed. Find more details about this reconstruction in this article:
