Os trilhos do Algarve foram distinguidos entre os favoritos dos leitores da revista alemã Trekking Magazine

Rota Vicentina is once again making waves beyond Portugal’s borders. In the April/May edition of Trekking Magazine, the Algarve trails—home to the Rota Vicentina—secured 3rd place in the ranking of readers’ favourite routes.

This recognition comes directly from those who walk the trails and reflects what so many have already experienced firsthand: the simple, authentic charm of southwest Portugal.

The distinction is based on a large-scale vote by the magazine’s community of 35,000 walkers and further reinforces the growing reputation of the Rota Vicentina, particularly among the German public—one of the most passionate when it comes to nature and hiking.

A Recognition That Crosses Borders

For those who have already explored these trails, this honour comes as no surprise. Rota Vicentina is more than a network of walking trails — it’s the ever-present sound of the sea, the wind sweeping across the cliffs, the scent of damp earth, and the birdsong that fills the air.

Between coast and countryside, walkers encounter landscapes that linger long in the memory. The Historical Way and the Fishermen’s Trail continue to attract travellers from around the world, inviting them to discover this region slowly, step by step, in a genuine connection with nature and local communities.

Congratulations to Via Algarviana

This recognition is even more meaningful as it is shared with another Portuguese long-distance route: the Via Algarviana, which was also highlighted in the ranking.
Congratulations to Via Algarviana on this achievement. Together, we showcase a more diverse Algarve and strengthen the region’s position as a top destination for walking enthusiasts.

Portugal on the European Trekking Map

Seeing two major Portuguese routes among the favourites of readers of an international trekking magazine sends a clear message: Portugal is increasingly on the radar of European walkers.
More than an award, this recognition motivates us to continue — caring for the trails, supporting local communities, and offering authentic experiences to all who visit.

Thank You to Everyone Who Walks With Us!

This 3rd place also belongs to everyone who is part of this journey: those who walk, those who welcome, those who care, and those who share.

We move forward together — step by step, with respect for nature and a deep affection for this land.
