Interview with Matt Davies

Matt Davies was a student on the 1st edition of the Course for Local Guides and shared his testimony with us.

What brought you to the Rota Vicentina’s Course for Local Guides?

I wanted to have the chance to share the beauty and fragility of this unique area while inspiring people to enjoy and protect it.

What was the concept that most impressed you during this initiative?

Rota Vicentina is more than a series of hiking trails but a network of local businesses that share the same principles of sustainability and the preservation of the local area and its customs.

How do you see this group of local guides 5 years from now?

I hope to see us a reference point of sustainable tourism for other regions to replicate.

A sentence that defines your route through the Rota Vicentina’s Course for Local Guides?

Friendships built over fascinating course materials and delicious lunches.

During the event Semana ID 2022, Matt promotes the initiative Running on Alentejo Trails.
