🇬🇧 Your feedback about the Semana ID ’22

2 minutos de leitura

Your feedback about the 2nd edition of Semana ID, an event promoted by Rota Vicentina Association.

After the Semana ID (*ID Week in portuguese words) we asked for feedback from those who experienced this event, about the activities they have done and those they would like to have done as well.

These contibutes help us define the way forward for the next edition, which will take place again in Spring of 2023.

Bram Hermans
Storyteller & aspiring Nature Guide

During the tour “Aljezur dos Mouros”, our guide Daniel took us on a journey throughout the old village of Aljezur to rediscover its ancient Arab roots.

We discovered a neglected page of Portuguese history, safe to say a forgotten part of the identity of what it means to be Portuguese.
Throughout the cobblestone streets, lingering next to the old harbor by the ribeira, Daniel guided usup the road to the castle where he fed us with the bits and pieces of tangible and intangible stories of the people who once walked these streets, eat, slept, prayed, traded and culturally enriched these lands. The Algarvian landscape and vegetation wouldn’t have looked the same today if the 500 years of Moorish presence had never happened. There was no better way to end the tour than sitting together and savoring a traditional Northern African dish.

“Aljezur dos Mouros” is a highly recommended tour to better understand, without necessary prior knowledge, an inspiring part of history of this beautiful region.
